We will keep computers attached to the Internet in public areas in the home

I will follow rules about where in the house I am allowed to be while attached to the Internet.

I will set limits on when and how the Internet can be used.

I will follow rules about Internet usage that might include what time of the day and for how long I am allowed to use the Internet. .

I will keep virus, ad-ware, phishing and firewalls up to date and working

I will not disable tools like firewalls that are put in place to protect privacy online.

I will not open e-mails from people I do not know. I will not follow e-mail links or open suspicious attachments.

I will use credit cards safely on the Internet using only secure, well known websites. Ask yourself, can I contact this company without using the Internet?

If my children present me with what they feel is inappropriate material they have been exposed to on the Internet I will think before I act. I will remember it is not my children's fault, I will report Incidents to authorities.

When getting items for free on the internet, I will remember the adage "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is".

If someone on the Internet offers me gifts I will tell my parents.

I will not reply to e-mails and IMs that are defamatory in nature and I will not send such messages.

I will not respond to messages that are mean or make me feel uncomfortable. I will show messages like that to my parents. I will remember that people might misunderstand things I write on the Internet and they might feel badly about something I might write. I will not write something that might make someone feel bad.

I will talk to my children about using the Internet. I will let them know that bad things can happen on the Internet just as I teach them about bad things in the real world.

I will remember that the Internet is a big place where bad people sometimes do bad things.

I will ask my children about things I do not understand on the computer, I will participate in their Online experience.

I will show my parents about things I do on the computer and on the Internet.
